The Full Story

Since I was a kid, I struggled to keep up with details in school. From missing assignments and appointments to rushed work that caused teachers to perceive me as distant, lazy and nonchalant, I began to not only fall behind but into shell of my self. I lost confidence in how effective my efforts were and began to get conformable failing within my control rather than failing while trying my hardest. It took someone sitting down with me, to understand me rather than label so that I could reach my full potential. Tutors who started set small, realistic goals and highlighted the consistency I made, allowed me to realize that my efforts were in fact effective. That my opinion did hold weight in the classroom and that with a bit more focus I could be organized and manage my time well.

I eventually got diagnosed with ADHD and then depression which made me find the help I needed but also lean on a crutch to excuse my weakness. I went through a long period of figuring out how to become better with organization and even longer for time management. I had to realize that medicine was not the final stage for me because I wanted a different life for myself. I began to use the tutoring skills I learned in the classroom and outside of the academic setting as well. I enforced a great deal of focus on my weaknesses to see just how great I could become and through it all I stumbled, tripped and even fell but always got back up.

One English degree, a music career and over 100 hours of tutoring later I cultivate that same space for my students. We don’t just tutor, we build confidence, expose our weaknesses and share ways to improve in the classroom. I want them to search for their best self and stumble their way to it. With a world that constantly highlights everyone's weakness I want our tutoring sessions to instill confidence, patience and grace for yourself. In tutoring I have learned to walk alongside kids and help them where they don’t know and celebrate their strengths. I’m so thankful to do os for others while knowing how big of an impact tutoring had on me. I started this business because I saw kids who struggled in the classroom and it churn bright lights to dim spirits. We don't create the spark but rather place the light on the mountain top in order for the light to shine and realize what its capabilities are. You are the light so come shine with us so that you may be great.
